いいBlog....

I usually add the word "blog" to my google searches when I'm looking for nonacademic thoughts or advice on the internet. Most of my recipes come from blogs. Compared to random websites, blogs are generally more specialized, personal, and fun. I've found split pea soup recipes, cheese pairing recommendations, and bread making advice on different blogs. Each account was well documented, with pictures and stories coming from the post itself and the comments that followed.

With that said, what constitutes a good blog to me is:

1) Semi-regular updates.
2) integration into the author's life (it doesn't have to document everything, but what it does document should be honest and authentic).
3) Tasteful use of media.

I just bought tickets to see a friend....

こんばんは、
It dawned on me today that the end of the month was approaching, which means my friend from Michigan, Bone is coming to NYC.

He's a phenomenal metal drummer. His band, Still Remains is playing Thrs night at the Highline ballroom. I'm not the biggest fan of this style of music, but most of my male friends back home are huge deathmetal/hardcore fans.

And I can't forget about...

Anathallo, who are also very near to my heart. I recorded albums for them not too far back. They're playing in October. I'm pretty happy to have these two slices of Michigan at my doorstep.

Also, I took advantage of today's gorgeous weather and went running down riverside park. On my way back I discovered the New York Buddhist Church, located on riverside drive between 105th and 106th streets. What caught me off guard was...
A pretty large sculpture of Shinran Shonen! I studied him and his contributions to Pure Land buddhism in a humanities course about Japan and an East Asian Studies course.
